Regional Officer (RO)
BADMINTON England employ a number of Regional Officers throughout
the country. They work with designated County Badminton Associations and
County Sports Partnerships and are responsible for co-ordinating all aspects
of badminton development. If you have any queries or require support with any badminton

A summary of their roles and responsibilities are as follows.
Role Summary:
- Responsible for the co-ordination of all aspects of badminton development in Essex and East London, in line with the BADMINTON England
'decade of delivery' and the County Badminton Development Plan.
- Working to the Regional Manager, the RO will be the representative of BADMINTON England at a sub regional
level, working in partnership with key stakeholders to deliver key objectives.
- The RO will initiate and promote all aspects of badminton development within the county ensuring high quality
opportunities are available for all.
Key Activities:
- Contributes to the Essex County / County Sports Partnership (CSP) based work program that reflects the objectives of the
national and county development plans.
- Facilitates, supports and encourages the delivery of all forms of activities, events or programs that lead to sustainable
participation in badminton.
- Co-ordinates, supports and develops coaches in order to achieve the development objectives of BADMINTON England.
- In partnership with other bodies, develops and promotes an effective coach education system for badminton coaches in the
County / CSP.
- Supports all affiliated badminton clubs to retain and recruit members.
- Promotes club accreditation to all badminton clubs and supports those working towards the award, to ensure quality clubs
for badminton activity.
- Works to increase the number of volunteers in the county, ensuring they are suitably rewarded, have access to relevant
ourses and are nominated for national and local volunteer awards.
- Establishes good communications and works closely with sportessex, Local Authorities, Primary Care Trusts and School Sport
Partnerships in order to promote and develop badminton through their networks.
- Promotes and initiates the delivery of BADMINTON England's junior pathway, Physical Education School Sport and Club Links
(PESSCL) strategy and to promote the principles of Long Term Athlete Development within the county.
- Increases the number of school and junior badminton clubs, ensuring exit routes to senior clubs.
- Continues to develop and service the Essex Badminton Development Group, ensuring appropriate representation.
- Promote the benefits of affiliation to BADMINTON England to local leagues, clubs and individuals.
- To be aware of the priorities and objectives of lead equity agencies, including Sporting Equals, the English Federation for
Disability Sport and the Women's Sports Foundation.
- Is aware of funding opportunities and schemes, making effective use of a wide range of financial and physical resources for
sport and active recreation initiatives from a range of agencies.
